Have had no cupboard doors on our hot water cupboard for, I dunno, a year? This was originally in an effort to get rid of the salmon coloured paint, but because of the effort involved (stripping back to bare wood to start again!) I kinda gave up for a while. Now we are in a crazy hurry to finish all the things we started and gave up on and this is one done! Boom white doors - look good!

Hob prob solved
Due to certain hubby hob purchasing and lack of measuring and considerable 'she'll be right' attitude... Our hob has never fit the bench cutout!
With a quick measure up and a drawing I whipped up, Gaz sent off a template to awesome steel cutty guy and problem solved!
See the stainless plate? That looks standard right? Whoop no more hole!!!

Clean air. Well, inside anyway.
For a very long time the extractor fan above the gas cook top has been doing an excellent job of sucking up gasie fumes and pumping them back around the kitchen. Not so ideal, some might say rather friggen pointless.
Finally my loving husband wanted an excuse to buy himself more car parts... so in order to keep his wife happy he made it work proper like. Well, it now pumps up into the ceiling which is also less than ideal but 'it works'. He also came home with parts to make it go outside so i believe soon all gas fumes will be pumped out which will be even acer.
So here it is for reals

Oh look, some light!
Given that i work in lighting... I thought it was only about time that i should get off my bum and install our new LED under cabinet lighting.
I spent this weekend making a channel in our wall kitchen cabinets for the LED profile to recess into... Finally got the lighting installed and the cabinets back on the wall today.

Here they are... This is daylight too so sun streaming in the window doesn't help show the awesome bench lighting that these produce. Pretty much don't need any other lights in the kitchen - thats how cool they are!
Nothing better than some exaggeration to top my story off. Realistically there will be more lights to come...

How convenient!
WHERES MY LAUNDRY GONE???
This of course is part of the major plan to increase the kitchen space by recessing fridge & oven kitchen units back into our oversized laundry.
Quite handy having someone around who actually knows what they are doing! I thought i was getting fast at this buildery stuff, but Mr Gledhill has put things into perspective around here. I now have a broom in my hand and am on lunch duty.
No Complaints here though! Thanks CODY!!!!
Ps. Need french doors asap. Buggers want $1400 at the building recyclers! Cant afford that luxury.. so Sheets of ply boarding up the giagantic hole in the back of our house it is.

I'm Back....
It has been swine flu central here for a week and a half - finally i'm back on my feet and just a horrible cough to get rid of now.
So, as you can imagine, the kitchen progress has been slow. But there has been some progress so here goes:
We now have a nice row of white tiles as a splash back on the wall above the bench. Just dont bring your vernier callipers around please. Nah, they look great and we are yet another step closer.

Grouting is tonights job.

To be honest that is all we have done in two weeks. Better get our butts back into gear...

I would just like to say that I am THE man.
Gaz is away for the weekend. Some boy weekend. So my ultra competitive side came out. The one where i am a female and i can do things without your help side.
I thought i would suprise him by going all out. Not only did i paint the spare room.. but I lined the walls with jib alllll byyyy myyyy selllffff. Might i add, those sheets a freaking heavy as ^&*%! And tricky to handle. But you couldnt stop me tonight - i was on a mission.
So here it is. Damnit, the photo doesnt show how hard this was! You will just have to believe me.
Weeeeeeeee... we have insulated, lined kitchen walls! :)

Out with the old and in with the new
See for yourself... Salmon coloured cupboards, complete lack of bench space and puke flecked lino. This was my old kitchen.
After pricing up kitchens at bunnings and choking on the prices which would be quite acceptable for some.. we resorted to months of trademe-ing to find the bargain of the century that would suit the tiny weeny budget, be close by and most importantly fit our space. Quite the mission! But we got there in the end.
This weekend we finally got to pick our new 2nd hand kitchen up! We bought it 2 months ago.. so the wait has been torturous and my patience for salmon and lack on bench space wearing thin. Each night after work we would set to work disassembling our old kitchen ready for the new kitchen.

Nothing like a bit of drunken demolition either!! Gaz and I got home at 12pm after a night of parting last Saturday night, and spontaneously decided to rip up the lino exposing the wooden flooring. Proved quite productive! Not sure the neighbours would have been impressed with our music cranking and drunkenly making a hell of a racket both inside and out, but got the job done and worked off a bit of alcohol too! Bonus.
