Holiday goodness

I am back in Wellington after a week long of ditching the husband and holidaying it up in Christchurch at Dad's.
In summary:
- Ferried & Road tripped to CHCH with my lil bro
- Ate wayyy too much
- Rode a bike really slow (about 10km behind everyone else), received lots of shit for my lack of biking ability and later realised i was doomed from the start as the brake was stuck permanently on my whole ride!
- Played at lake hood with a Jetski & recovered from bike ride of doom.
- Became a florist for a day for Dad & Caros Wedding
- Saw Dad sign up Caro
- Gained 2 step siblings
- Caught up with lots of family
- Cringed at most horrible hair cut 2010
- Laughed alot
- Rob and I convoyed with Nicolas, Dion & Han to Kaikoura
- Tented at a woolshed in the middle of nowhere. Ate the best food ever: freshly killed and stewed rabbit, roast quail, duck and venison.
- Saw some sights in Kaikoura with Rob
- Ferried home!

Awesome holiday - Also glad to be home.

Delayed Honeymoon - Twizel's best feature

Gaz played like a big boy in the huge machinery at Twizel.

From what i gathered - thats all Twizel had going for it.. haha.

Delayed Honeymoon - Lake Tekapo

Lake Tekapo was pretty even on a grey and spitty day. Not short on coin i can imagine, with new housing developments all over the show.

& Lupins... Lupins everywhere!!!

Delayed Honeymoon - Rakaia & Mayfairs 2nd hand treasures

We recently went on our honeymoon. We thought we better do it before our 2 year anniversary. It helped that we had saved up a bit of spending money as our holiday would have been a bit bare boned if we went at the time of our wedding.

Anyway. We had an awesome time! The south Island i so incredibly beautiful. And i've decided instead of blogging vaguely about the trip in one post. rather i will a blog for each exciting part in more detail. So prepare to get overloaded.

Rakaia River Bridge

Our trip started going through the Rakaia gorge which we have seen a million times.. but its still pretty and this was the start of our self taken photos of ourselves (of which we mastered the art of self timed and extended arm shots).

Lusting after 2nd hand goodness at Mayfair
We then came accross THE meanest 2nd hand shop ever. While gaz was scoping out vintage bikes and old suitcases i was lusting over vintage fabrics and crownlynn. In doing so we clocked up over an hour in this heaven for a shop. HEAVEN i tell ya.
As you can see... endless supplies of crown lynn crockery, old suitcases, bikes, furniture, vintage fabric, jewellery etc etc.

A must see on any southisland trip. Unsure why wises maps havent caught onto this iconic NZ attraction yet. I certainly marked it on our copy for future reference. Mayfair people mayfair!

Big Weekend!

Today was Hannahs 6th Birthday! Gaz and I made sure we were in Auckland for the occasion. This included a weekend full of highlights such as:

  • Witnessing the famous Welsh novel of Claire Elizabeth Ramson "The Weathering of Biopolymers", oh and catching up with herself and A+A of corse.. :P
  • Rading Mums wardrobe to find possible "Disco Witch" attire - sure enough mum's wardrobe was sporting a number of possiblilties. The chosen being a nice sparkly black number (Thanks Mum). This, coupled with a spare-of-the-moment broom made from shrubbery from the side of the road (thanks Mamaku) made for a perfect target for a whole party of children to completely naker me out!! "CHASE THAT WITCH!!" Ahhh.. I could not keep up with 10+ sugar fueled party goers! Nanna Nap was a neccessary.
  • Last minute birthday creation.. Hannahs Clock - Involved being very self absorbed in Nikkis sewing room from 7pm-12pm whilst everybody else partied their socks off for Dions 30th.
  • Being woken up the following morning at 6am by a certain 6 year old demanding her promised birthday present (the finished clock).
  • Going to visit our new and oh-so cute puppy
  • Flying home to pick up a new garden shed.

Action packed. Glad to be home. Glad to have hung out with the coolest neice and siblings in the whole world.. And the bonous of catching up with the rest of the whanau including a flying visit to see Poppa!
